It began as a tent city in 1882, but as soon as 1910, Del Mar could claim fancy hotels and Hollywood stars vacationing within its borders. Currently made up of only 2 square miles of coastal land, many residents and visitors simply walk to their destinations. Del Mar is just north of San Diego and is a calm, seaside town.
