Ontario, California is a suburb of Los Angeles and home to the LA/Ontario International Airport, the 15th busiest cargo airport in the United States. Its settlers had previously lived in Ontario, Canada, and so named their new home after their old one when they established the city in 1882. Ontario's climate was a draw for citrus farmers and people who needed to live in a dry climate for their health. Many immigrants also populated the area as they built the railroads through Ontario. Currently, Ontario relies on manufacturing, service industries, warehousing, dairy farms and agricultural farms to form their fairly diverse economy.
