Jacksonville, Florida - Facts & Figures
Jacksonville, Florida is a rapidly growing city with a much younger population than in other areas of the state. The economy is diverse and quality of life is considered high, both factors adding to the draw for people and businesses to move to Jacksonville. The city's port is one of only two in the country that can handle heavy cargo (such as automobiles), making it a transportation hub, and adding to the number of automotive related companies in Jacksonville. Toyota and General Motors have built large distribution centers in town. Jacksonville is also a military town, with a larger population than almost anywhere else in the country. Kings Bay Submarine Base and three naval air stations make their homes here, giving rise to a thriving aviation industry as well.
