Tuscaloosa is the home of the first North American Mercedes-Benz assembly plant. It is also the home of the University of Alabama. Although it has an image of a college town, Tuscaloosa has a diverse economy that includes manufacturing and service industries. It is the county seat of Tuscaloosa County. The city is only about half an hour away from the Alabama Adventure Theme Park, a family-oriented amusement park. It is also home to multiple museums, such as the Mercedes-Benz Visitor Center & Museum, the Alabama Museum of Natural History, and the Children's Hands-On Museum of Tuscaloosa.
