Beaverton, Oregon is seven miles west of Portland and a part of the Tualatin River Valley. Legend has it that Beaverton got its name because it was settled along a body of water created by beaver dams. Ford brought one of its early car dealerships to Beaverton in 1915, which now has several locations. The town became known for automotive dealerships.
Beaverton is the second-largest city in the county and Oregon's sixth-largest city, and was named one of the 100 "Best Places to Live" by Money magazine in 2010. Beaverton's economy is healthy, as they are a part of the Silicon Forest, and are home to many tech companies, as well as Nike, Inc.'s world headquarters.
