Koonsville, Pennsylvania is a small section in Luzerne County. It is one mile outside of Shickshinny along Route 239, and was formerly known as Arch Bridge. Under that name it was a bigger town, but an Iroquois raid in 1778 cleared out the population. Today, Koonsville is made up of 5 residential houses, a taxidermist and a closed gas station. Koonsville was named after William Koons, the first postmaster in the town.
