Salt Lake City is the capital and biggest city in Utah. It was founded by Brigham Young and is the world headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Salt Lake City began its economy with farming, mining and railroads, but has become a modern town with a diverse economy. The natural beauty and recreational activities in and around the city provide a large tourism industry, which in turn benefits the hospitality and retail sectors. Salt Lake City is the government, commercial and industrial center for Utah and much of the Intermountain West. The city also hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
